(Shanghai, May 2013) – K11 Art Mall, is kicking off its new media art exhibition with the theme of “Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Money.”The two-month exhibition, which starts on the 24 May, is part of the opening event of the art mall that will take place in late June. Put together by renowned independent curator Li Zhenhua, the art exhibition has attracted top-tier artists both at home and abroad, including Ryoji Ikeda, one of the most important micro electro-acoustic artists, who will premiere a live waterfall performance in the mall. The exhibition, combining virtual experience and reality, will offer the public a fantastic journey through culture, creativity, art and fashion. chi K11 art space is destined to communication, interaction and display of art. Free exhibitions, workshops and lecturers are held regularly to connect art with the general public.
Embracing the inspiring world of new media arts--- The Innovationists at K11 Hong Kong Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Money at K11 Shanghai
New media art flourished in China in the late 1980s and has become a cultural phenomenon. This form of art has allowed us to interact more with reality through the use of media, science and technology, unraveling the distinction between the real and the fantastic, in an attempt to illustrate the co-existence of cultures and media from different fields as well as demonstrating the beauty of science and technology.
The Shanghai K11 Art Mall exhibition, from the 25th of May to 28th of July 2013, entitled “Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Money,” has attracted 28 renowned Chinese and international artists to create a total of 26 pieces, half of which are specifically designed for this event.
Hong Kong’s K11 Art Mall, from the 22nd of May to 2nd of July 2013, will explore the realms of new media arts with The Innovationists, featuring cutting edge multimedia and interactive art works by renowned artists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and the United States, whose works challenge and question the way we look at art and its relation to people and space.

Our exhibition seeks a more intimate interpretation of how different fields, cultures and media can co-exist, and how technology, science and aesthetics can better integrate with concurrent social processes, independently from the reality fabricated by the mainstream world. Attempting to identify and locate different aesthetic senses within the sphere of culture and technology means to generate public resonance through the exploration of everyday life, fashion, trends and collective consciousness.
New media art in “Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Money” is an innovation based on traditional presentation. K11 is also breaking down walls between art and life, and at the same time building a platform for innovation rich in variety. While bringing unique vitality to the city, the highly anticipated K11 mall, which will be inaugurated officially in late June, will also bring art to life and expand its influence on people.
